Synopsis:

DIALOGS 2022 is a cycle of four conversations around the international panorama of the educational offer in the movement arts sector. The sessions will take place via Instagram LIVE on November 15, 17, 22 and 24.

The third session will be a conversation between Roberto Olivan, director of L’OBRADOR Creation Space, and Amalia García, lecturer in dance and performance at the University of Bedfordshire. You can consult the rest of the sessions in this same calendar.

 

Biography:

Amalia Garcia is an artist, academic and facilitator. She studied Performing arts at De Montfort University and trained at Laban, where she completed an MA in European Dance Theatre Practices. Originally from Spain, she worked as a freelance performer, dancer and community arts practitioner with Retina, Willi Dorner Cie and ersatz dance.

Amalia was a teacher Fellow in Dance at De Montfort University and became a full-time Lecturer in Dance and Performance at the University of Bedfordshire in 2009 where she now runs the Performing Arts course and teaches across the BA (Hons) Dance & Professional Practice, Performing Arts and MA in Dance Performance and Choreography programmes.

The focus of her research is practice-based research in dance and interdisciplinary dance-theatre performance.
